To help him, I decided that after I put the boys in bed each night, I would take some time with Andrew to just talk. I lay in his little bed and I ask him what was his favorite part of the day. He's told me some pretty funny stories. And sometimes I'm surprised at what made the biggest impression on him that day. One day he told me, "Mom, you said "hurry" today. That's a bad word." Apparently, he doesn't like it when I rush him.
We're now to the point that when I tuck him in at night, he'll say, "Mom, I have to tell you something..."
It's my favorite part of the day.

That is so cute. I'm looking so forward to when I can talk WITH Am instead of to her.
That's so sweet! So many times I know I just want my kids to hurry and fall asleep and probably miss those sweet moments. Thanks for the reminder to slow down and enjoy the journey.
So cute! I want to do that, too. The other day I had to take Grant to the ER because he fractured a bone in his leg (long story, not sure if it will make it to the blog), and he got me all to himself for five hours (the other two were at home with a sitter). Grant was in Heaven. It may be the first time he has ever had that much undivided attention from me. He didn't even care about the setting.
