Weekend Getaway

I say "Getaway" but we still had a kid with us.  Randy's parents were nice to take the other three so we could "get away" and go to Arches National Park.  I'd never been there, and I really wanted to go before we left for Sacramento.  We spent two nights there and it was lovely.  Jacob even slept through the night (and hasn't done so since).  I think we hiked all the arches except the really long hikes.  Pictures don't do it justice.  A must-see-in-person kind of place.

That's Randy in the middle of the arch.

When Connor is in trouble, he immediately says, "Hug!"  "Hug!"

Yeah, he gets lots of hugs.
I love the last line of Elder L. Whitney Clayton's talk from General Conference:
"Marriage is a gift from God to us; the quality of our marriages is a gift from us to Him."
What an inspired thing to say.  A new way to look at marriage for me.

Andrew and Josh told me tonight that they want more brothers.  Because 3 just aren't enough.

Spring Break 2013: Day 1 & 2

I've been gearing myself up for this week.  Spring Break with all four boys.  So far they've been very good to me and we're having a blast.  It seems like the past two years we haven't been very successful with fun outings.  I've had a wandering baby that you can't take to public places.  Or too pregnant to want to go. And newborns aren't very much fun to take anywhere.  I feel like we've finally arrived and I'm now brave enough to face crowded places with my brood.

Yesterday, we got the errands out of the way.  A trip to the library.  Originally I'd only planned for us to run in to pick up a "community exploration" pass, but we stayed and read books for awhile.  Then shoe shopping for the boys.  And then a Costco trip.  They passed the test, so we made plans to do fun things the rest of the week.

Today we went to Discovery Gateway.  We've been here many times, but I don't think Connor has been once.  So sorry third child.  It was so fun to watch him discover this place for the first time.  He would have been happy to just play all day with the balls (the first thing they see when they walk in).  Each turn we made, he got so excited.  Baby Jacob (no pictures) was happy as can be snuggled in the wrap.  Andrew & Joshy were great helpers and were good to stay close.

And here is the picture overload:
