Art with Josh

We haven't been so good this summer (pretty much not ever), but during the winter and spring, Josh and I worked on crafts while Andrew was at school. I love the website No Time For Flashcards - I can't say enough good things about it, so many great ideas using normal, everyday craft products. Here are some of his projects:

Connor Loves Fruit

I was eating this plum at first, but as soon as Connor saw it, he squealed and grabbed and was not going to let me eat it in peace, so I let him attack it...

What we love about Andrew...

Andrew is a good friend. Our neighbor kids enjoy being around him and it was the same when he was in school. I've noticed that other boys his age are in that competitive stage ("I am so good at...." "I can do.....better than you."). Somehow Andrew hasn't picked up on this yet, so when a friend brags to him, he just says, "Good job!" "Awesome!" He is guileless and we love him for it.

Pioneer Day

Randy had the day off and I always have the day off (well, sort of), so we headed to Heritage Park for the third time this month (are we the only weirdos that love that place so much?). They had a lot of fun things to do to celebrate Pioneer Day. Joshy was the only one brave enough to follow through with the pie eating contest (after Randy and I found out that it was only a pie tin filled with whipped cream, we bowed out). We also had sparklers and a few fireworks with all the neighbor kids later on that night. It was a fun day.

Bees Game

We look forward to our annual visit to the Bees game (thanks to Grandma's work for the picnic & tickets). It was a relaxing summer night and the boys had a lot of fun.

4th of July

I was bent on making sure we got to see some real fireworks this year. We staked out a spot at Sugar House park early in the morning and then spent the evening there listening to the concerts and eating lots of junk. The boys did great, even though it was a late night for them. I can't believe how good little Connor was!

Andrew's Summer Party

We had our first "friend" party to celebrate Andrew's 7th birthday. We invited the neighbor kids and some friends from Andrew's 1st grade class - in all we had 19 kids at the party! We tried to keep things really low-key and it actually turned out to be a lot of fun and not as crazy as I thought it was going to be!

The Minsons (B.J. & Maggie) drew chalk art on the lovely concrete wall surrounding our townhomes. We filled a kiddie pool with water and shooters...

Then there was a slip n slide...

We didn't have time to make a cake this year and since Andrew doesn't like frosting, we got an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins

We had hot dogs, chips & fruit for dinner...

Then Andrew opened his gifts...

Here was the chalk art before it got demolished...
