My Search for a Fancy Schmancy Camera

I know a few posts ago I was dreaming of the Nativity & Advent sets I'd like to have someday, but what I'm saving up for, hopefully by my 30th birthday (which is coming a little too quickly), is an upgrade from my 3.2 megapixel dinosaur to a beginner-level digital SLR. So I need your help. So many of you own one of these bad boys, please tell me why you like yours and why you chose that particular camera (Kimbur, Lorena, Ruth, Lindsey, Hillary, Danica, Becky, Danielle and anyone else). As of now, I'm leaning toward the Nikon D40. Here are the cameras that I'm comparing (you know me and my obsessiveness):

Canon Rebel XT

Nikon D40
Olympus E410
Pentax K100D

Thanks for your input!

I would do Nikon or Pentax. The only reason I chose my Pentax over the Nikon was because it was quite a bit cheaper at the time. And I love it. No complaints.

Josh does a lot of research before he makes a big purchase and he found that the canon rebel xti (like we have) did really well in consumer reports. Also, i don't know about the other brands, but all canon lenses are interchangeable. I'm bringing mine up to the party on saturday, you can play around with it. I have LOVED it. at costco, they have them for 900. but that includes a card, battery, case, and 2 lenses.

I bought the Canon Rebel in hopes of taking great photographs of my children. Ha-ha. 3 years later and all I can do is snap a picture. I have been told that it is a great camera if you learn how to use it. :)

I love my Rebel Nancy! It really is a great camera, but I have heard that the Nikon has a stabilizer in the camera when the Canons have them in specific lenses. Either one they are great cameras. I don't know much about the Pentax. My husband is a good person to talk to about these things too he works with those cameras all day.
