We just finished our 12th week doing the Grocery Game. They say it takes about 12 weeks to see your grocery spending go down because by then you'll have a good stockpile started. We do have a good stockpile--I now have the challenge of finding room for it all! Here are our stats after 12 weeks:
Cumulative savings: $1050
% saved: 41%
(This is for all food, diapers, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, toiletries, etc. that we have spent in the last 12 weeks)
I'm happy with where we're at, and I think there's still room for improvement. In the beginning, I was hoping to get to 50%, but now I'm shooting for 45%, I think that's more realistic for us.
I also was referred to a great website that doesn't charge a membership fee: http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/. I use both the Grocery Game and this website. It's a fun little hobby for me and I love that we're saving money!

That's insane... Alright,, I'm trying these bad boys out. With an actual real income coming in a month, I'm going to have to budget a little better.
So cool! I could never do it. I just know that about myself.
I'm jealous about your summer. Want to know what I do everyday? I clean and clean so that a bunch of people can come through my house and look at it and decide that they don't want to live here.
Next summer I'm planning on having a Nancy type summer! You'll have to give me lessons.
I am so impressed! I am always looking for ways to save money. I might have to give this a try. It was so fun to see you the other day, It looks like you are having a really fun summer. I am so excited that you get to stay at the U and it looks like they will be keeping you busy serving in the ward.
